NP-Liberty Lady Mounties run home in third and sixth to take the win
It was a defensive standoff at Smythe Park as the Lady Mounties took on the Lady Rams.
Both teams showcased solid pitching through the entire game and neither team got themselves into scoring position until the bottom of the 3rd.
The Lady Mounties Carmen Bates hit a one out double to left, advanced to third off a Brooke Harvey bunt, and then tagged up on a sacrifice fly by Savanah Doney to give the Lady Mounties a 1-0 lead going into the 4th.
Wyalusing had a scoring opportunities in the top of the 4th and 5th innings, but the Lady Mounties played tight D and pitched efficiently to get themselves out of the jams.
North Penn-Liberty tacked on another run in the bottom of the 6th as Harvey scored off a passed ball to give them a little cushion of a lead going into the 7th.
Wyalusing threatened in their final inning and they scored their first run off a blooper behind first to cut the Lady Mounties lead in half, making the score 2-1.
The Lady Rams had runners at the corners with only one out as Taylor Shum popped up a bunt right in front of home plate, while attempting a safety squeeze. Third baseman Lauren Smith executed the play of the night as she sprinted and dove to make the catch, then whipped the ball over to first to double up the runner.
The Lady Mounties went on to win with a score final score of 2-1.
